What is biophilia ?
It is the response to the human need to connect with nature and aims to restore this link in the environments in which we live and work every day, particularly through interior/exterior design and the integration of plants into the workplace.
A global observation on biophilia
An influential effect
One-third (33%) of office employees say that the interior and exterior design of a workspace influences their decision to work for a company.
A lack of natural element
Only 42% of respondents to the study conducted by Human Spaces, say they have indoor plants at their office, and an alarming number of them, 47%, have no natural light.

Well-being
Two-thirds (67%) of respondents in this Human Spaces report say they feel happy when they enter a bright environment enhanced by natural elements such as indoor or outdoor plants with touches of green, yellow or blue. Incorporating plants into the office contributes to this feeling of well-being.
Combating stress
Just under half (47%) of respondents say they have felt stressed at work in the last three months. This finding highlights the importance of targeting practices that improve well-being at work, such as office design or decorating outdoor spaces with plants.
Productivity
39% of workers say they are more productive in a closed office, while 36% of workers say they are more productive in an open office. In both cases, a well-designed interior layout with plants can promote concentration and productivity.
